About the Omaha Vehicle Impound
The Vehicle Impound Facility
is a part of the Omaha Police Department/ Administrative Information
Section. The Vehicle Impound Facility, located at 7809 F Street was
acquired by the City of Omaha in 1991. It encompasses approximately
11.55 acres owned by the City of Omaha with an additional 4 acres
leased. The facility is capable of storing approximately 1,200 vehicles
and is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. It
is a fenced, secured facility with video surveillance and continuous
patrol by City of Omaha Police Department personnel. The facility
employs 16 employees; one manager, one foreman II, 7 Automotive Equipment
Operator I’s, 1 Automotive Equipment Operator II and 6 Clerk
Typist II’s.
Annually, approximately
18,000 vehicles are towed by order of the Omaha Police Department
and the Douglas County Sheriff's Department. Over 5,500 vehicles are
offered for public auction, resulting in over $ 2.5 million in revenue.
